The Mont Epoch Tent is a generous 2 person, expedition tent with a blizzard-grade full Nylon interior, 3 large roof vents & 2 spacious vestibules.
The 5 pole design provides enormous stability in high winds & when you are facing extremes the Epoch's ability to hold dual poles make it the only choice.
The Epoch Tent is a dedicated expedition, 4 season tent ideally suited for use above the snow line and at high altitude. The Epoch is incredibly stable in high wind thanks to an exceptionally strong pole structure and seven guy cords including four 3-point attachment guy cords. Ventilation is controlled with 3 internally accessed roof vents, and valances on both the large and small vestibule minimise windblown snow.
Mont Tents are sold fully seam sealed, waterproof and ready for rain straight out of the box. There is no need to seam seal your new Mont tent.
Review for previous model Epoch. I took this tent with me on my solo sea kayak expedition in East Greenland last year. Greenland has the potential for ferocious weather with both Piteraq and Neqajak storms and having a strong expedition tent is vital. This tent is superbly designed, with every effort made to make it a comfortable refuge in stormy weather but at the same time it has the best ventilation of any tent I have seen, making it just as usable in hot climates as cold. Brilliant!
Review for previous model Epoch. We've used the Epoch for a couple of seasons now including several Main Range and Vic Alps trips. It has proven to be the most bombproof 4 season tent we've ever used. Our most recent trip with it saw us in the Wilkinson Valley, NSW, where we experienced pouring rain, that deafening rain where you think someone is standing outside the tent blasting you with a fire hose, which then turned to snow. Even in the strong winds we experienced on this trip, the Epoch felt solid as a rock. The ventilation is the best of any 4 season tent we've owned and even with all the rain, we had no problems with water/moisture inside the tent. The Epoch is an awesome tent!
Review for previous model Epoch. Unfortunately I was put in the position of setting up the the Epoch tent for the first time in the dead of night. BUT armed with only a head torch I was able to ***** and admire it's design within 15 mins or so. I was practically blindfolded - so simple. Every feature of this tent seems well thought out, relatively lightweight and super-functional. Whilst I haven't tried and tested this tent in snow (yet), I have full confidence it will be my tent of choice in the Main Range this winter - bear in mind you will need winter tent pegs (or innovative snow gum stick pegs) if you are heading into the alpine regions! I am 2 metres tall and this tent JUST squeezes me in there, if anything I have to sleep on a slight angle so my feet or head aren't up against the dewy/cold sloped walls but that's nothing new to me (sleeping diagonally).
I recently used the new version of the Epoch on a sea kayak expedition on the Antarctic Peninsula. Our group paddled over 300kms from Enterprise Island to Argentine Island and we spent several nights camped on snow in Antarctica. Just like my own first model Epoch, this tent gives you the confidence that lets you sleep regardless of what is happening outside. It feels bombproof and IS bombproof. Snow, no problem, rain, no problem, wind, irrelevant. It's quiet, spacious and breathes better than any other tent I have used. Love it! Geoff Murray Mont Ambassador
