Great bag - compact, light and very warm for its weight

19 January 2017

I picked up the prolight 300 for general hiking and bike packing. In December 2016 I did the overland track and overnighter to Mt Jagungal. The bag performed superbly. Light, compact and pretty warm even as the temp dropped towards zero on a few nights. It also proved nicely water resistant Hydronaute, a big deal for me given I'm tall and end up getting my feet wet on the end of the tent.

I partnered the bag with an expedition mattress, which is important given the bag has no down on the bottom. But this is a reasonable compromise given the bag is so light and didn't seem to impact on warmth much. The trick I found was using a silk inner sheet so when I rolled over the lower down-free section stayed on the mattress.

If it's snowing outside I'd definitely be taking a warmer bag, but for above zero camping it does the trick.
