In 1862, after completing a three-year rope-making apprenticeship and working as a journeyman, Kaspar Tanner started work as a rope-maker in the Swiss town of Dintikon. This heralded the birth of Mammut. Since this time, Mammut has pushed the boundaries with climbing and mountain products for alpinists. In 1964, Mammut made the first UIAA certified single dynamic rope. Mammut continues their tradition of making quality climbing products today, with a great range of products for all climbers.
