One serve of Climbing Envy please. Served fresh from Europe by Chris Warner

While we can't get over there, photos from Mont Ambassador Chris Warner's recent climbs will have to do. As a mountaineer and climber, Chris has been a member of the Mont Ambassador team for over 10 years. We've outfitted him for his expeditions including many summits of the World's great peaks.

From the French Alps

“The Central Pillar of Freney, 7a+ (24) a sort after route made famous by tragedy when disaster struck when a four man French team and a three man Italian team were racing for the summit of Mont Blanc in 1961. A storm hit the climbers and four climbers died, one of the survivors being Walter Bonatti. A month later it was completed by a team led by Chris Bonington.”

This didn’t match with what my preferred forecast program Windy said and I have found that program to generally be very accurate. So I started the climb up towards Trappers Hut with a sense of curiosity to see what the day would bring.

Choosing a New Tent. By Ben Wilkinson
Choosing a New Tent. By Ben Wilkinson

October 14, 2021

Choosing a new tent is one of those moments that calls for serious research. It's a big decision, and a potentially risky one, if you get it wrong you may have to live with the consequences for a long time. I live in Tasmania and love exploring wilderness Alpine regions, especially winter camping.

So, my non-negotiables in a tent are it being waterproof, that's #1, then weight and space. Ok, looks play a part, but they are a bonus :)

An Explosion of Colour and Life. By Leann Geach

“We are so lucky to live in the bush capital. Getting out in nature is good for the soul and the mind. Especially when greeted with an explosion of colour and life around every corner. Yesterday I spotted or heard 23 bird species, frogs loud and proud, kangaroos with little heads poking from pouches, ants repairing holes...”
