Review: Dynafit Alpine Trail Running Shoes

February 24, 2022

Dynafit Alpine 1 Review

Dynafit has been around in the Italian Alps for many years now, and their high performing shoes and vests are the latest addition to our extensive trail running range. To a lot of people, the brand Dynafit might bring thoughts of epic snow days, but Dynafit is also fast becoming a leader in the Trail Running space, continuing their trend of making some of the best gear for outdoor athletes.

Recently, Mont staff member Kirsten took the Dynafit Alpine Trail Running Shoes out for a few test runs and they did not disappoint! The Dynafit Alpine is available in Men’s and Women’s sizing with a 6mm drop and standard width fit.

"I have taken the Alpine out for a few varied runs now and they have not skipped a beat! Their performance during a shorter run on single track left me speechless. They are light and responsive with a nice amount of flex and their Vibram Megagrip outsole gave me confidence on loose and wet terrain. Likewise, they remained responsive and comfortable on a mix of pavement and fire trails despite the chunky/grippy outsole. I would personally keep these as a daily running shoe as I prefer a little more cushioning for runs over 20km. For a lot of people this would be a fantastic shoe for any distance!

Dynafit Alpine 2

The seamless tongue is soft and meant I had no pressure points along the top of my foot, as well as no dirt and prickles getting into my shoes along the way. In recent years I have become accustomed to quick laces, but I was pleased with the adaptability of the Alpine’s standard laces allowing tighter and looser sections along the shoe. The Dynafit Heel Preloader kept my foot locked in without any special lacing and the reinforced toe ensured my feet were protected when I inevitably tripped on rocks. This was nicely contrasted by the softer upper, a combination that let you really feel the trail! My usual go to shoe is either the Salomon S-Lab Ultra or the Salomon Sense Ride. The Dynafit Alpine really gives them a run for their money!

The fit is pretty standard although if I was using them for longer runs I would probably go half a size bigger. The Alpine is a standard width shoe though I do find them on the narrower side of standard across the forefoot."
