AT CAPACITY: Backcountry, Ski & Splitboard Mountaineering Info Night at Mont

The Mont Backcountry Info Night is at Capacity. Thank you to everyone who has confirmed their RSVP.

Totally free and guaranteed to inspire, educate and open your eyes to ski and splitboard mountaineering in the Australian Backcountry.

The Mont Backcountry Info Night is about true backcountry, beyond the bounds of the sidecountry and slackcountry. It will give you a taste of the knowledge and the best contacts to tackle the epic Western faces of the Main Range, Watson's Crags, Carruthers, camping in the snow and at altitude and much more.

Learn from guide and fixture of the Australian backcountry Doug Chatten of Snowy Mountains Backcountry, alpine clothing systems expert and gold medallist skier Michael Milton, lifelong ski-tourer and Mont Shop manager Leann Geach, and Dynafit specialist Simon 'Tech' Head.

You will learn about mountain safety, best gear setups, clothing systems, alpine camping equipment, backcountry ski and splitboard hardware and much more.

We will be taking donations for WIRES wildlife rescue, who are always busy in winter.

Of course, we will have COVID precautions in place that include spaced seating, sanitation stations and mandatory check-in at the door.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Mont Shop Fyshwick.

Ice crusted the ground and tent the next morning and checking my temperature sensor I was surprised to see that the temperature had dropped to -7.7°C overnight. That is remarkably cool for late October in Tassie!
