Hi Mont Team,
I have recently returned from my trip to Sweden hiking the Kungsleden trail and would like to share some of the photos with you guys. I am a big fan of Mont and rave on about it here over in Europe. I am currently studying in Germany; due to COVID I haven’t been able to get out too much so this trip was extra special.

Some trip details.
The Kungsleden (kings trail) is a hiking trail in far north Sweden which starts in Abisko and traverses 440km over mountains, rivers and forests finishing in Hemavan. Many reindeer roam high in the mountains which are bred by the local Sámi communities. Those willing to forage will find an abundance of mushrooms and berries adding some freshness to one’s hiking cuisine.

We were hiking in late summer (August/September) and experienced a bag full of weather; snow, sleet, rain and sometimes sunshine. Typical mountain weather I guess. The remoteness and open space reminded me what I miss about Australia. As Europe is quite densely populated it’s not always easy to find awesome remote nature. One pro is that the trial heads are all accessible by public transport.

Mont gear that featured on the trip includes my Mont firefly tent, Austral rain jacket and Sun Hat. Kept me dry and warm.
With warmest regards from Leipzig, Germany.

We were probably twenty electrolyte tablets deep each, feeling more like science experiments than cyclists. Add in sketchy tarmac with trucks roaring past, hogging the whole shoulder, and you had a section that demanded laser-sharp focus…

I had brought my Mont Helium 680 with me. A luxurious bag rated to -12°C for warm sleepers, it is perfectly suited to Tasmania’s cooler months. Ice crusted the ground and tent the next morning and checking my temperature sensor I was surprised to see that the temperature had dropped to -7.7°C overnight. That is remarkably cool for late October in Tassie!
