UTA Gear Check Canberra

Ultra-Trail Australia (UTA) is only three weeks away! Hopefully, your training is going well, and you're getting excited to start tapering, but that doesn't mean the hard work is over.

Mandatory Gear. Have you got it race-ready? If not, don't worry, there's still time, and we have all the gear to get you across the start line: clothing, bandages, hydration and nutrition, as well as Canberra's most extensive range of trail running shoes and vests!

The Mont Shop is the only registered UTA Gear Check Store in Canberra. Anyone running the 100km, bring your gear in, pick up anything else you need, and one of our expert staff will check and issue you a certificate for race check-in. If you're tackling the 50km, 22km or 11km races, don't hesitate to do the same to clear up any questions or uncertainties you might have.

Sometimes getting all your mandatory gear together can seem daunting, and you might even question why you need to carry so much. It’s important to know that race organisers select the required gear based on what they believe is the bare minimum to keep you safe on a particular course. Trail runs are often remote and on challenging terrain with variable weather systems, so carrying this gear is essential for several reasons: Your safety, the safety of other runners, the safety of race officials, and not to mention not having required gear risks time penalties!

Below is a basic list of the Mandatory gear required for UTA100. Please check the UTA website for more detailed information about each item or gear required for other distances as it may differ:

To ensure you see the most up-to-date information please refer to the mandatory gear page on the UTA website: https://www.ultratrailaustralia.com.au/athlete-info/mandatory-gear/

Mont has an exceptional range of all things trail running so even if UTA is not your event or you are just starting out, we have the gear and knowledge to help get you out on the trails!

We were probably twenty electrolyte tablets deep each, feeling more like science experiments than cyclists. Add in sketchy tarmac with trucks roaring past, hogging the whole shoulder, and you had a section that demanded laser-sharp focus…

I had brought my Mont Helium 680 with me. A luxurious bag rated to -12°C for warm sleepers, it is perfectly suited to Tasmania’s cooler months. Ice crusted the ground and tent the next morning and checking my temperature sensor I was surprised to see that the temperature had dropped to -7.7°C overnight. That is remarkably cool for late October in Tassie!
