Mont Moondance 2 Tent Availability

Mont Moondance 2FN tent, Walls of Jerusalem, Tasmania. By Geoff Murray

In a market dominated by ultra-light at-all-cost tents, Mont Moondance tents are more popular than ever thanks to their superior reliability, function and versatility. So much so that our best-selling Moondance 2 Tents have been difficult to keep in stock.

So if our tents are so popular, why don't we just make more? Unfortunately, it isn't quite that simple.

If we were willing to compromise on quality and performance, things might be different. But we only use materials we believe in. This is a blessing in that we trust our gear and know it will meet and exceed the demands of the wild. But a curse as it means the materials and components are difficult to source, even at the best times.

Our suppliers are specialists, they are perfectionists, and they are carefully chosen. Take the manufacturer of our tent floor fabric, for example. While we can't tell you who they are (that's our secret sauce recipe), we will tell you that the material they make for us is unique, and we are the only tent brand using it.

This 'material' is the lightweight 25,000mm+ waterproof PU laminated Nylon found on most Mont tent floors*. 25,000mm+ waterhead: that is more than twice the waterhead of any other tent on the market (and ten to twenty times the waterhead than some of them!). Some people might say that 25,000mm waterhead is more than you need. We say that 25,000mm waterhead is exactly what you need when your tent with a lower waterhead floor is leaking. The pressure of simply kneeling down in a tent with 2500mm or 1200mm floor can cause it to leak. Now imagine getting caught in a torrential downpour two days walk from home in a tent with a low waterhead floor!

“So when are you getting Moondance 2 Tents back in stock???” New Mont Moondance 2 Tents will be in stock in mid to late April 2021. Sign up to the Mont Newsletter and talk to your favourite Mont stockist for the first word on new Mont tents and availability.

* If your Mont tent has a 10,000mm waterhead decal printed on it, that floor fabric is in-fact rated to over 25,000mm. Learn more about the new waterhead ratings on Mont tent floors.

I am planning to hike the AAWT solo this year, the moondance2 sounds interesting. Or if you would reccomend another tent that you make 1,1.5person. 2500waterhead sounds good. I would also like to know other specs if you could please before I come in and bother you.
Thanks Ben

On my recent trip to Mongolia, I expected some pretty low temperatures, temperatures that I had not experienced before so I took a range of clothing and gear with me to protect me from the elements.
