Mont Bimberi Stretch Shorts Charcoal

Mont Shop staff member Dave has been trying out a pair of the new Mont Bimberi Stretch Shorts. Read his review below.

Mont Staff Member Dave using Bimberi Stretch Shorts

"The Bimberi shorts are incredibly comfortable for a fitted style, and feel really lightweight when they're on. I've been wearing them for about a month now around town, as well as bushwalking and bouldering. The stretch fabric allows for plenty of mobility no matter the activity. Bouldering often lends itself to pretty strange body positions but I don't ever notice them limiting movement, even when high stepping or stemming.
The lightweight nature of the shorts feels a bit airy when on so they're ideal for warmer temperatures. A strong breeze can be felt through the shorts, which gives them the advantage of drying quickly if they do get wet although it can be a bit disconcerting because it doesn't feel like you are wearing much!
A couple of other features I've come to like about these shorts are the numerous pockets, including the neat inner zip pocket, and adjustable waist belt for some tightening when needed. They also look great for casual wear with a fitted, above the knee cut which is a bonus in my mind, and have already seen a few lakeside drinks with friends.
I can't yet speak to their long term durability although they seem robust, especially for an ultralight design, and are easily my new favourite shorts so will no doubt see plenty of use."

Please keep the integrated belt. It is a major selling point.

I have just been reading the review of the Bimberi shorts, having just taken ownership of a pair of Bimberi pants and worn them on a fishing trip into some of the Western Lakes I have one issue. Get rid of the incorporated belt system!! It doesn’t work properly, just have a couple more belt loops and let us decide on which of our own belts we will use, that will save us the time taken every time you have to take a twist out of the fitted one.
Cheers

We were probably twenty electrolyte tablets deep each, feeling more like science experiments than cyclists. Add in sketchy tarmac with trucks roaring past, hogging the whole shoulder, and you had a section that demanded laser-sharp focus…

I had brought my Mont Helium 680 with me. A luxurious bag rated to -12°C for warm sleepers, it is perfectly suited to Tasmania’s cooler months. Ice crusted the ground and tent the next morning and checking my temperature sensor I was surprised to see that the temperature had dropped to -7.7°C overnight. That is remarkably cool for late October in Tassie!
