An Update from Everest

From the Fly From Everest: End Polio Now expedition team

On the 18th of April, after three years of planning, the whole Fly from Everest: End Polio Now team, alongside their guides from Himalayan Ascent, have reached Everest Base Camp.

"We are now at Everest Base Camp and settled in to what some would consider a fairly luxurious camp situation, especially when compared to previous mountaineering trips. The comfort provided by Himalayan Ascent is quite remarkable including private tents, a full commercial kitchen, heated; meeting, reading and relaxing tent, which is fully carpeted."

"A few headaches from altitude, a lot of tiredness but a feeling of “we are finally here” was the general perception amongst the team." Mont is proud to have kitted out Ken and his team with technical clothing and Julbo Eyewear, ensuring that they are protected from the elements on their world-first attempt.

On my recent trip to Mongolia, I expected some pretty low temperatures, temperatures that I had not experienced before so I took a range of clothing and gear with me to protect me from the elements.

It’s that time of year again when Australia’s only native deciduous plant, Nothofagus Gunnii or the Deciduous Beech, affectionately known as Fagus, or less affectionately....Tanglefoot, bursts into a mass of golden colour before the cold Tasmanian winter.
